What Innova Say:
The Sonic, based on the Hero 235, is a unique putt and approach disc. This disc has a comfortable low profile grip with great thumb traction.
As a putter, the Sonic has a nice straight flight and sticks well in the chains. The Sonic also makes a versatile short range approach and escape disc when thrown sidearm or backhand. For longer approaches, it has a slow predictable turn and likes to land flat for very few roll-aways. This disc is very beginner friendly.
Innova Sonic (DX)
Weird but good!
The Sonic is based on the Hero235, but the Hero is based on a thing called a Fastback, which weighed around 119 grams, and used to be used for TRC (Throw, Run & Catch) and MTA (Maximum Time Aloft) events back in the days of Frisbee supremacy.
These days, modern golf disc designers are not restrained, and they are able to take a basic old concept, reduce the size of it down to golf disc utility, and tone down the extreme flightplate bulge, to produce a disc of phenomenal controllability, if very low speed, and low stability.
Still, there's definitely a place in the bag for such a disc - and what has numbers like a Sonic? Anyone?
